lol. I had a thing in my family that you eat the whole thing, and nothing less than the whole thing, unless, my dad ate the rest of what you didn't want. lol.. Well, it sure has been different now since this surgery that i will feel full like tonight, and not finish it all, and put the fork down. I still have a problem with it. I don't want to waste it. So what little there is, went in a tiny little container with a lid.

This is a GIANT issue with me. We were very tight budgeted when I was growing up.. my father's favorite saying was "no body throws it in so we do not throw it out."

I am working on that mentality and have had to throw away a lot of food that I can not eat now that I'm post-op. But its upsetting me less and less these days.

That's too funny. I'm totally the same way! So I mentally tried to set myself a goal of having to always throw something away. I know, it sounds strange, but I'm trying to chip away at that voice in my head that says you have to clean your plate. Since I'm still at just a 1/4c of food, of course there's always lots left over. So I make a serving of whatever, take out my 1/4c scoop and dish up my little tiny serving dish. Then I try to eat it all, but there's always that last bite or two I just can't get down. Instead of putting it back, I throw it out. Hopefully over time the throwing part would carry such a feeling of guilt.

so we need to get together a place for weight due to guilt induced measures.
Maybe even some things Mom use to call treats, always food, and always yummy. She treated us with food when we were good, or had a good grade. OR if she was in the mood . I ate over anything, including being sad, frustrated, happy ,Than it was an everyday, every reason type of thing. I'm finding out food tastes better if it isn't used as an every excuse thing. Just wishing my vanilla soft serve at Mcdonalds. That is about the only thing on the menu I liked. I'm just rammbling on right now..so sorry

for me, it was always "finish what's on your plate or don't get up." I don't do this to my own children, so I feel good for breaking the cycle, but it's still a hard habit to break myself. I am starting to really control my portion size and eat really slow to allow my brain to catch up to my body. And I too am lucky to have people around to eat my left overs. :) My 280 lb football player son is always more than willing! LOL!
