I was nervous too. I don't know if yours will be the same, but I talked to the psychiatrist for maybe 10 minutes and then filled out questionairs for 2 hours. Hr asked me why I was having the surgery, why I thought I was fight, and all about my family. The questionair had questions about what I could and could not do physically like "Do you need help to dress yourself?" , "Can you mop your floor?", "Do you need help to take your medications?". Some silly question about how you would react in different situations. It really wasn't bad. Nothing to worry about.

I will add the only problem I had is I suffer with depression and the psychiatrist was concerned about it. All I had to do was get a letter from my counselor to prove that I am being treated. Good luck!

That sounds easy enough. All of this mandatory stuff just makes me crazy . I just wish it was all over and I had a surgery date. Thanks for the info. It does put me at ease.

I think the only wrong answers are lies. If you lie your way through the process for whatever reason, you're only sabotoging yourself.

Mine was pretty fast. She asked if I had a support system, how I slept at night. Nothing too personal and I was cleared.

I think they all do things differently ....seems now most of my friends only spent 10 to 30 minutes with a psychiatrist.

Back in 2010 I had to go 3x first visit was a talk information gathering session

second one was mostly a questionnaire on eating to rule out disorders then a personality test...I guess to make sure I had one

my third one was to discuss the recommendations.........now mine first said you need to wait 6 months...........I didn't accept that answer and we talked more and I had defendable reasoning for her to not make me wait. She said in her entire career she has never changed her determination until me.

In all honesty I have an extensive mental health history but I was very honest and upfront and she talked to my treating psychologist. I truly believe a good psychologist knows if you are hiding something . .

Mine is definitely 3 visits. My friend told me that its 350 true or false questions! Ugh! Oh well, today is the day!

you will do just fine relax....they wont deny you I have never heard of psych denying anyone .........the nut yes but not the psych doc . and with psychology there is always room for reasonable discussion if needed.

Just tell the truth!
