Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I'd talk to your nutritionist before using the Kashi Cereal Bars they, are really not a good ratio of protein to calories to sugar.
I sometimes use a Quest or a Pure Protein bar, I think they have over 20 grams of protein per bar and about 200 calories. These are really meal replacements.
I don't use them with water, they tend to be very dense and hard to digest.
But definitely check in with the nutritionist about what your program recommends.
I very rarely ever eat them. I think I've eaten 2 since January. They taste ok. Not like a chocolate bar, but not awful. They are relatively high in calories, about 250 per bar, but the bars are huge and I certainly couldn't eat a whole one.
I keep one in my purse just in case I am out somewhere and get hungry. I'm still new enough that there really isn't anything that I can eat at a restaurant or food court so I'd rather have a few bites of a protein bar. The times I've had some just a 1/4 of a bar has filled me up.
I wouldn't choose to eat one if I was at home and had access to real food.
I have not yet tried them after surgery, so I don't know how they would work. The Think Thin are easier to chew into liquid state so you might start there.
