Excited about surgery. Not excited about price going up $2,000.00. based on the facility. Afraid of other cost related surprises. I feel like I'm over a barrel and just have to take it and move forward. My doctor has a great reputation with patients and other doctors in the area.

I have a tentative date. It should be confirmed later today. May 17th.

I'm excited but disappointed about this price thing. It really curbs my trust.

Has anyone else had this experience?

Unfortunately I'm self pay. After assuring everyone at the doctors office that I didn't think they misinformed me intentionally, I asked them to split the difference with me. The doctor reduced his fee by $500.

I'm moving forward with them.

My surprise came after the fact because I had multiple surgeries. They lumped everything under GBS which had a maximum lifetime benefit cap. It ended up costing me $10k more out of pocket. Still fighting with the billing office that should have split out the non-GBS surgeries. My advice...if you have a max benefit for weight loss surgery and are having your gall bladder out or anything else done at the same time, make sure the billing office is clear about keeping the surgeries separate. I may be paying for this for 10 years but I will be alive to pay it!! 200% worth every penny!
