Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
The point of the 5 day pouch test, IMHO, is to reconnect to your pouch--to become aware of it and the "soft cues" you get when it is full.
It's really easy to fall into our old habits of pretty much ignoring how we feel physically and just eating for pleasure or emotional numbness. The test is a chance to do a course correction. Most important, just pay attention to how you are feeling and WHY you want to eat when that urge arises.....
it did not by the way infact i lost 7llbs and regained 10. I take in no more then 935 calories a day and walk/hike 2 to 4 miles a day. thyroid sucks...................oh anyway please check with your doctor SOME do NOT approve. mine was nice about his disapproval though.
I loaned my book to a friend who is a prospect for sugery. So kinda flying blind on this. I went on the net for an.outline.
Lol! Figure all the bad stuff I have done to myself in the last 60 or so years hasn't killed me so the pouch test won't either.
maybe we as a collective should try creating a plan that is not one that apparently is frowned upon. Mine is not the first doc i heard poo poo on it just the first one i heard in person. lol
anyway good luck with it if you need anything msg me and let me know ill do what i can to support you im good at kickin arse too apparently lol
I think maybe trying something is better than doing nothing?
I been doing the wrong things all summer and am afraid I will gain back some fat!
Scary thing!
Emotional eating is an issue for most of us. 3 mindful meals a day addresses that issue.

I don't feel off track but hell my thyroid is changing for the worse every 6 weeks and im gaining .
maybe its the drinking thing i am off on that in the am.
I didn't lose lots, if anything. BUT what it did do was help me feel in control once again. For that, the experience I find PRICELESS!!
The hard part, DAY ONE! THought I was going to die without chewing food! LOL! Seems funny now, but seriously was VERY HARD! Remember that suckie preop diet? Well, and this was only two days! LOL!
But whenever I start feeling like I am losing control, I do a day or two of protein shakes and get my control back.
Best of luck! And if you need encouragement while doing it, message me on facebook Ed!! Or here... but I visit here less often!
Noticed hunger feelings after that :-(
Write it down and we realize we've had 2 days worth of meals in between regular meals. So easy to nibble away at calories, even if they're the good kinds of foods, the calories do add up.
Good luck with the test, and maybe consider the diary when you start in on foods again.
Take care.
