Pasta replacement?

Does anyone know of anything I can use to replace pasta in some of my recipes? I have a TON of recipes for pasta dishes (mostly Italian) but can't tolerate it since surgery. Any ideas?

Maybe you could use Spaghetti squash or zucchine. I have never tried it, but just maybe it will work

I make a vegetarian lasagna and instead of the noodles I layer with thinly sliced and pealed eggplant. I know a lot of people don't care for eggplant, but my family loves it.

Is pasta something that we will never be able to handle or is it just something we cannot handle in the beginning?

I'm about 6 months out and I can eat very very very small amounts of it. I just don't even bother because I love the taste so much that I always WANT more. My stomach doesn't handle it well and I tend to get nauseous when I eat it. I wouldn't call it "dumping" but I definitely feel sick afterwards. When I have "dumping syndrome", I usually get all hot and sweaty and dizzy, not nauseous.
Thanks for everyone's replies. I've never tried spaghetti squash or zucchine, so we'll see about those. I have that cookbook that was mentioned, but spaghetti squash was the only alternative to regular spaghetti noodles. I might just have to try the eggplant thing. That sounds yummy. :)

I have tried the spaghetti squash, It is surprisingly good! When we cooked it, we just took the whole squash and plopped it into a pot of boiling water, and boiled it for an hour!
I know this will make many people just roll their eyes, but I've never experienced anything about this squash. My goal was to just get it cooked ;o9
It had exactly the right texture and the flavor was real good!

I dont know if you have ever heard of the website Hungry Girl.com but she raves about a Tofu "pasta" that may work for you. Its called House Foods Tofu Shirataki. The main complaint is its kind of slimy but I guess in the right dish it could be just what you are looking for. Hope that helps!
