Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
You will feel better faster anyway, then if you force the urge away. Then you'll have to wait til the problem is all the way through your system before it stops causing discomfort.
It also sounds to me like you are consuming too quickly. drink slower and eat slower. Chew more, and take smaller bites.
God Bless!

You know, I have been struggling with that since I went to soft foods. It is a hit and miss type of thing, but I have a name for it. It is esophigial spasams. They hurt like hell and feel like something is stuck. I got this feeling a couple of times a s a kid drinking cold soda too fast. It can be dealt with medically as well as behaviorly. And from what I have learned talking to others about it, it does seem to go away after 3 months or so. First, cold and hot food trigers it. So try eating stuff that is more room temperature. Same with liquids although I have found that hot tea actually helps...for me personally anyway. Next, I am drinking a little with meals to get the food out og the esophogus and into the stomach. Not much. about 2 ounces in sips when needed. I still get full and I am not eating more than the recommended amount but even that has not been fool proof. I am still having attacks that send me running to the bathroom. So, I talked to my Doc about it and he increased my pepcid because these spasms are linked to acid reflux and he perscribed a long acting smooth muscle relaxer...a calcium channel blocker...I believe it helped. Finally he gave me a rescue. He perscribed nitroglycerin spray sublingually. In most cases when it starts, this will stop it cold and end the vomiting. I have a healthy heart though so you may or may not have this option. At least you can discuss this issue with your doc or surgeon and ask him what he can do for you. It is not always eatting to fast or something you are doing wrong. Sometimes it is just the new anatomy working against us. hang in there.
