Overeating 7 months post surgery and weight gain

Hi all 


I have just joined , and wanted some advice or help. I had a gastric bypass in April 2016, and have been on track in terms of meeting goals and all.


One thing which is really worrying me is that my hunger is back, I feel hungry all the time and I have started to overeat I am not following the guidelines as to portion control and how much I should be eating.


I have been loosing weight ar around 1 kg a week, till last week when i gained 1 kg and this sort of threw me off since I was told I would be loosing weight for at least 2 years post surgery.


In essence i am asking fellow members how their weight loss post surgery has been and also how have you guys managed to stop over eating, Thank you in advance and best wishes to all

First, I don't agree that we shed weight for at least two years. I went 25 past my goal by a year and that was it for me. I couldn't overeat because my pouch wouldn't let me. Most hunger is head hunger and counseling to work on our issues is a must for success. Taking one bite at a time, pausing, and eating with presence makes all the difference in the world. The rest is choice. We either choose to eat healthy or not. We either choose to move forward or go back to what our lives were before. Surgery is no easy fix and never gets easier. Never. Every day is one choice at a time. You can do this if you choose to!

I'm 6 months post surgery and I find myself absentmindedly eating for the past two days. It's time to get deliberate again. Be present when I eat (turn the TV off). It's so easy for me to slip into old habits. That's one of the reasons I like this support group so much. Constant reminders. Good luck!

It is so easy to go into comfort mode because food has been are non judgmental friend for so long.
It can taste so good and gives an ahhh because eating does release chemicals in the body which helps us relax. It will be two years 12/1/16! I am still shedding but have to work at it... start top 279 now 163. I just find myself wanting to eat too soon after drinking liquids and standing by the refrigerator eating lately. This site is good for loving each other in a non judgmental way.

JUST REMEMBER..you can stretch your pouch from over eating and you will be right back to square one... good luck on getting it under control before that happens.

Please do not overeat any more! I did that and I regained the weight that I had lost and 30 pounds more for a total f 130 pounds. I will start this journey again. I am a little discourage now, but the most difficult part is begin.
