Hi guys, hope all of you are doing well. Well me, not so good. Nancy my partner had a Respiratory Arrest on Tuesday. She has been very ill again for the last couple of weeks. I took her to the ER on Sunday where she was admitted. Here in the northeast, when you make someone a DNR, it means do nothing for them at all. That is not the way it should be. So I had to resend my decision and changed her status to do everything. It was a good choice. She is alive and doing very well. She is on a vent hopefully she will be weened off tomorrow. She had gone septic with a UTI, She is also positive for VRE.... I am going to sue, somebody for not letting me know about this she has been positive for about 3 months wtf......
Okay enough about me... How is everyone doing? All you guys going to surgery you are going to do fine, just follow your program to the letter. For you fresh post-ops, stay strong and you will do well. For us old timers keep up the good works.

You and your partner have certainly been through the grinder. I hope Nancy continues to improve. Fighting the medical system is never fun.
Just had my own issue with serious internal hernia. Had to have a "full open" (i.e. laparotomy). 4 weeks out - still sore - but better. More on that here: http://tinyurl.com/gbs-hernia
Keep us posted. I'm guessing you hold durable power of attorney for medical decisions for Nancy. Insist that the doctors keep you fully informed. My wife was my advocate the past couple of months -- she went to bat for me several times when I simply could not do so myself.
