I have admitted it several times here that I HATE to sweat. My preferred exercise is swimming but even with a heated pool (83 degrees but outdoors) at the gym it has just been too cold for me here in NC. So I ventured inside, did the treadmill and eyed the elliptical---knowing that is the machine that actually makes me sweat and gets my heart rate up. Well, we purchased Amazon Prime at Xmas time (great deal, free shipping and tons of videos, movies etc for free) and I discovered NYPD Blue. Yes I know it was on in the 80's but I was a single mom w/ three kids and in bed by 9:00pm so I never saw it. So now I bring my Ipad and watch an episode while on the elliptical, no commercials so about 48 minutes. And I've seen David Caruso's bare butt several times already (that must have been a bit risque for TV in the 80's). And I am almost liking the elliptical....almost. Kathy

We get our new treadmill on Thursday. I am also like you and don't like to sweat but I realize that I have to get moving. Especially at my age of 57 I can feel my muscles tightening by the minute. LOL

NYPD I might need to try, as I think I've seen every SVU and Law and Order ever made. :-)

Good for you! Whatever works!! I'm afraid to get on the elliptical for some reason.

Ruby- I was scared of it at first also. I kept going backwards and when I finally realized it and made myself go forwards it was a lot better. (What can I say, I'm a little slow when it comes to mechanical things.)

Likedeer- Walking is excellent exercise. You are right that we need to move!

Watching a movie or show, especially without the commercials, is a great way to pass they time. You're not looking down every second to see how long you've been on our how much longer you have to go. Makes it more bearable, if not enjoyable. :)

I'm right along there with you and get intimidated by that machine but I still do it because of the great benefits(sweat and upping the heart rate)!! The first time I used it in the gym, I also did it backwards and didn't realize it until shown what I was doing wrong, lol. Also be careful to not to step off too close behind it because I some how hit my shin bone due to it moving as I put one leg down and it was not a pleasant feeling at all!
