Had a good appt w/ my NUT yesterday (I'm 10 weeks out.) We tweaked my supplements a bit (I was taking too much Vit. D, hadn't accounted for it in my multivitamin and can only absorb so much.) She strongly recommends a probiotic and says regardless of all the info out there, Flintstones Complete are adequate. She is a big proponent of probiotics for stomach health and weight loss. I ordered the tiny chewable from Bariatric Advantage.
As far as how much protein is absorbed at one time, she said it's highly debated but her opinion is 40 grams.
Interesting discussion about Vitamin D. I have been taking it for about 3 years on the advice of my Internal Medicine MD. My levels have improved in that time so I reduced the amount but was still taking two 2000U a day along w/ my post surgery supplements. She told me that heavy people often become deficient because the sun has a harder time penetrating the fat layers to provide the body w/ natural Vitamin D. People that lose weight also find they are no longer deficient. Another reason to lose weight.
She is pleased w/ the food I am eating and made good suggestions for sneaking in protein here and there. Likes flax seed, chia seed for helping keep you regular. They bind to the water in your colon to ease movements.
Suggested if I snack at night to consider something w/ protein, like frozen greek yogurt bars. All in all, a good visit and very educational.
Oh- she asked me to try to weigh in once a week during the losing phase. She actually has a client that NEVER weighs herself and has never agonized over a plateau. So I weighed in today and am 200.3 lbs. Hopefully next Friday when I weigh in I'll be in onederland!!!!

Very interesting conversation you had with your nut, thank you for sharing. My doc also said that his Nut also liked the Flinstone's complete...so I ordered them and some b-12 and my cal citrate.
