I cannot believe I caught myself!
I had a very stressful time in a class yesterday involving how the final for the class would include knowing what was on 14 (yeah, FOURTEEN!) research papers, and not just the concepts... I was so stressed my stomach hurt! (this is not my normal mode of operation! LOL!)
As I was walking out of the class and off to the computer lab, I had to pass a vending machine... I saw chocolate... and I swear it was a magnet that pulled me to it ;)
I stopped myself (which is not new... I do that often). What is new is I realized I was headed to use food to cope... to stuff my freak out over this final I have Tuesday... I made the connection, right there, on the spot, and it felt good to catch myself in the act of this behavior.
I went to the pc lab and did what I needed to do... then went to the student rec center and rode the bike for 20 min... a much better way to release steam and cope :) :)
Feeling pretty darn good about this! It has to be the first time I knew I was going to use food to cope vs. after I demolished a bag of chips or something! PROGRESS!!

It becomes routine as time
goes on.....THINKING about
what we put in our mouths vs doing
it mindlessly. I believe that's why it's
very necessary to have these 6 mos of
preparation, before surgery.I can't imagine
diving head first into something like this!

I'm so happy for your accomplishments before surgery. I too have been researching this surgery for a long time, and although I don't know as much as you, I am finding out more and more by being a part of this group. I may not post a lot yet, but i'm trying to be involved as much as possible and ask questions.
You're doing great, just wait until after surgery, you will move forward with flying colors!!
