Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I remember when I started this journey and read about transfer addiction, but initial gut response was "Nah, I won't do that!".... but then I got real with myself and knew I had to be vigilant!
I am an ex smoker, I like go out for drinks (tho not often, we go out about 1 time every other month or so), I like to toss a $5 or $10 in video poker, I of course have food issues, and something I tell less that minus 3 people (guess that's changed now!) is I came close to an addiction problem with another substance years ago. Not sure it was a full fledged addiction, but I was dancing on the skirt-tails of one before I walked away!
So who am I to think I couldn't transfer!? In fact, yesterday at my last preop therapist appointment I even brought this issue up to her... We chatted about the never say never, and of course to always be aware.... and proactive.
Sounds like you are doing just that!! I am truly so proud of you!!
