The only fast food I've had has been a bean burrito with cheese, rice, lettuce and tomato from Taco Bell. When traveling once and feeling the need for some protein, I did eat some chili from Wendy's, but the nutritional facts on it aren't that bad and a good amount of protein. The thing about life after surgery is making good choices. Jack in the Box has 'grilled chicken tenders' that are only 210 calories for 5 tenders and pure protein. That's a much better choice than a burger with bread, ketchup (sugar) and fries. I try to avoid fast food all together, but admit it has been an option that I feel I've chosen wisely at since surgery in those rare occasions.

Thanks Dinae. Rice is another one I can't do. I don't know why but my body has a physical reaction to these foods. It's not Iike I have a choice about it. I guess it "hit or miss" with me. But when I do find something I can tolerate I seem to go with it, like tomatoes and cucumber salads. Do you have this problem? How long has it been since gbs?

been 8 months for me. But I eat Thai (very spicy) food with at least a tiny bit of brown rice every week. I love tofu with spicy basil. :) Remember with rice, especially brown rice, it needs to be well lubricated with lots of sauce or gravy. I don't have any problems with any foods including tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, broccoli or any of them. I have tried ketchup on a couple of things and it made me instantly full and almost sick it was so sweet. I've gotten pretty in tune with recognizing my limits. When I eat I seem to know when I've had enough and as long as I don't over do it, I never have any problems. I've been very lucky in that I guess.

As far as the smells, it really doesn't bother me anymore. The first few months after surgery smelling the chinese place next door or the burger place down the street was sickening. I went into Krispy Kreme and bought 2 dozen hot donuts last week for a group meeting and they smelled wonderful and was never even tempted to take a bite of one.

I'm almost 8 months out. Fast food is one of the things that contributed to me being 305 pounds. There ARE a few fast food options out there that are acceptable, such as Chik-Fil-A's naked nuggets with a fruit cup but in general I just don't do fast food. Good planning helps me to avoid the need, or want, to stop for something to eat. I take an insulated lunch bag with me if I will be out all day and put in things that are on plan for me. If just running errands, I take something with me that doesn't need to be refrigerated.

I absolutely cannot eat as much as before either. About 4-6 ounces and I'm done.

I have been traveling a lot these last few months and found a few things that go down ok. One item I try to find is a breakfast burrito that has eggs, cheese sausage or ham. Most times I can eat of these to get in some protein. The other item I look for is a whole meat chicken sandwich (not the ground up chicken patties) I can often eat this chicken with just one slice of the bun. Of course these are not the best choices but have helped me in a pinch.
