Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I hope you're feeling much better by now and are dealing with your feelings concerning your surgeon. It's so important to find ways to deal with emotions rather than turning to food.

I had a friend get really negative with me since my surgery. She is a few years post surgery and is not near her goal. Based on reading several of the posts on this site I knew I needed to let her know that if she couldn't be supportive about my journey we would need to not discuss it again.
That felt so empowering. Thank you for all you share on here.
Robynjoy, all of the comments so far are right on point. You have to listen to your own body and what it is telling you. For instance, I have found that I can drink liquids up until I eat, but not for about an hour after I eat. Everyone is different.
Take your time about adding foods. I remember I was SO excited when I could eat cottage cheese, and it tasted so good! I hardly ever eat cottage cheese now. I find I can even eat some sweets, as long as it's only a few tiny bites. It satisfies the craving without going overboard. But again, everyone is different. I don't dare to eat deep-fried food at all, but then again, I have no desire to. You will soon discover what works for YOU, and that is what's important!
Good luck, and realize that it's not the rest of your life that you have to restrict your food choices as much as at the beginning.
Today is my first day back to work. My head kept saying "get a snack". This has always been one of my eating places/triggers. I decided that for today eating (beans and cheese or protein drink every three hours would help me feel less needy. So far so good.
