hi and welcome. I have bipolar II , I also have agoraphobia. sounds like you are doing really well on the liquid diet in spite of being hungry. Not much longer and you will not feel hungry for quite awhile. :)

I see a therapist for my journey if I had not had the two (change in providers) I have there is no way I would of come out of this sane........er or at least my version of sane.

I don't know what meds you are on for me my extended release had to be changed ..at first I had no problems taking my meds as long as I didn't try to take them in one handful like the old days. I had a mechanical complication and when I couldn't keep things down my pdoc was wonderful we tried liquid lithium but it didn't stay down so then we went to capsules. The doctor also broke up my doses example is my lith was in capsules of 300 mg and I took 4 2x a day. ............sounds horrible but its not . im sure you know we do what we have to to stay stable. good luck on the surgery . Ive had some issues but im happy to help any way I can.

Welcome to this great group of people! Your primary can easily test your blood regularly for your drugs. No problem. See a therapist before, during, and after!

thanks for your comments ladies. katlin I am also bipolar II. I am taking Geodon which worries me. I saw my pdoc for the last time today before he left for a new job. so in oct I see a new pdoc which makes me nervous during this time of change. I will call and get a tdoc appt on Tuesday. im sure I won't be able to get in until after my surgery.

when you call for your apt. if you fell comfortable tell the scheduler you are going for surgery are very nervous and that you just lost your pdoc to a new job. Maybe they can squeeze as a emergency........do you go to the same clinic for pdoc and tdoc? .........I got permission to go private for therapy and not loose my place at the clinic for pdoc. Maybe if you have a private t in your area that takes your insurance they might get you in faster.

I have never been on geoden I have heard it is a very good med though. I bet you wont have problems ........when you see the new pdoc try to have them keep your apts frequent. My pdoc has known me forever.......she diagnosed me in 93. Ive been seeing her since 2011 again and she sees me almost monthly to be sure I stay stable during my physical battle and changes. Howdy. I was diagnosed as a sort of bipolar Type II. I was worried about the absorption of the lithium and risperidone that I take. From KatLin I see that she had to have her extended release changed. I was wondering if they regular lithium crushes up pretty well or with the capsules, do they come apart so you can put them in a liquid? I know there is a liquid risperidone, but I was hoping to just crush the tablet that I have.

as far as I know lithium is not one to be crushed or opened......however I know for sure there is a liquid lithium because I tried it briefly. My complication mad it worse for me though taking liquid.

make sure you check please on crushing the meds before you do it ok? its really important especially with psych meds.

I cannot comment on the meds... but I found myself a therapist as soon as I started this journey, and am very glad I did. Its been great to have help with the tough stuff, our head work!

Welcome and good luck with your surgery... I do not have any advice on the meds as I do not take any of the meds you do... Please talk with your doc so it doesn't upset your routine...

Hi Kara. Welcome to the group. I am not bipolar, but I do have major depressive disorder, anxiety and OCD. I am wondering how things will go with my meds too. I am having the gastric sleeve and my surgery is September 16th. We are September buddies. :o)

Hang in there on the liquid diet, you can do this, and as others have said, it will be easier, once you get thru it, and have the surgery!!
