And popcorn for me is a no-no FOREVER. To many calories. Also if a kernel gets stuck, that could be big trouble. When i need a popcorn fix, I take a whit cheddar rice cake, put it in the microwave for 30 seconds and spread lightly with butter. One rice cake is only 45 calories.

I can leave it alone cuz we just don't have it around here, but I know with my mom here I will be tempted, and that is a great alternative
I think the popcorn is a complete no-no from my doctor anyway. They think it is too hard on the pouch and can plug you up at tghe little hole on the bottom of the pouch. I used to chow down on popcorn before my RNY but I don't touch it now.
Chili is a good chioce cause you got meat and beans in it, lotsa protein. I use deer burger and it is nearly fat free.
I occasionally share a bag of popcorn with my husband, but it is always the small snack size bag and always fat free. For one cup of popped corn it's only 15 calories. And it feels like a real treat once in a while. Chew well though - you don't want it to get stuck
I totally understand people who choose not to eat popcorn. However, it is one of the few "white," non-protein foods I eat. I use the tender white popcorn and make my own (and I chew it to a liquid before swallowing). If you choose to eat popcorn, make sure you eat protein first, follow the no drinking while eating rule, and go slowly. Popcorn (or any snack-type food) is very easily turns into a mindless eating type thing and none of us wants to return to that! Also, I had a dumping episode once after eating movie theatre popcorn without having protein first.
