I love to cook!!! My biggest problem is that I just plain make too much.
As my family size dwindled (7 kids) it took time and practice to cut back on the volume I was used to cooking. Cutting recipes in half finally helped reign that in, but now that the actual portion my pouch will hold is resulting in way too many leftovers, which my husband will not eat, and I quickly grow tired of eating over and over again.

Anybody else faced this issue?? Really need ideas...can't keep throwing out these groceries, and the freezer is getting very full of all those small labeled leftovers. Kinda comical though...such a reversal. LOL

My church participates in a program where people make extra meals and wrap them up (in approved containers) and freeze them for homebound frail and elderly people. Every now and then, I deliver them to the church freezer for pickup by the program. Wonder if you could find anything like that in your area? Or even just know of a neighbor who would enjoy your leftovers?

I'm just now (8 months postop) learning to cut back on my shopping. My issue wasn't what I cooked up so much as just that I'd buy way more than I'd need for the week. My freezer is packed too and I have to force us to eat that stuff up. But now I'm learning to just buy less (i.e. more realistically).

Gosh, I wish I could say send the leftovers my way. I dont cook at all. Ok, well I rarely cook. LOL I think Im the only person who has to dust off my stove!

lfrocillo, I know right? I don't cook either. I used to love to cook; but 5 years ago, I completely messed up my knee and 2 surgeries later and 3 re-injuries, my dr. put me on strict orders to only walk or stand for 5 minutes at a time. That makes cooking and clean up quite difficult. I do bend the rules a little and walk/stand for about 10 minutes at a time; but that's the best I can do without my knee complaining big time.

I live alone. I often buy frozen means and eat just half or a third of them, saving a portion or two for later. Because of living alone, I always have to cut recipes down, and I freeze portions so I have fast food of my own creation.

We eat out probably more than we should. I make it a practice to decide when I order what I am taking home. I only eat what I need and get a to go box for the rest. I don't do deserts.
