I was on here a few years back & still no surgery. Just as i was coming up on surgery dates my husband was laid off work so everything came to a rude stop. I cried for days. So im asking if anybody has went through this & is there any help out there? Thanks!

I haven't gone through your troubles, but I wonder if the new Affordable Care Act has any provisions that could help you? If you still have no health insurance, I suggest you go to your local Human Services department and inquire about what may now be available to you.

You can check to see if you may qualify for cheaper medical insurance at healthcare.gov. Be warned, though, the website is being overrun so it may not let you submit your application right away. Just be patient and you should be fine. I looked on it last night and it said if you submit all the required information by the 15th you may be eligible for insurance as soon as the 1st of the next month. Hope this helps and hang in there! :)

Don't know about you guys, but around here (SC) very few insurances covered the GBP surgery. My insurance with my company did not, but my husbands did. I went on his plan last January, and had surgery Dec 31. I don't understand this, especially since Medicare/ Medicaid do cover it. Also since the AMA has described obesity as a disease.

If you live in a state where Medicaid has been expanded (like a blue state), you might want to check on that.
