I am 2.5 months (ish) preop.... so still have quite a few pounds to lose... 70 or so...
I go to Pilates 2 x per week right now, plus I walk about an hour a day. The walking is to get me from work to school and such. I could take the bus, but figure of course now that I CAN walk... I should be :) When the weather gets real bad, I am sure I will take the bus some days. I also plan on going to the gym at the college 2 days per week starting next week or the week after. I've not done that yet since the new term started because I was picking up extra shifts at work. I also work at an infant room at the college co-op 3, 1/2 days a week (well, suppose to be, but with the extra shifts it's been more than that... but normal will be 3, 1/2 days) My point is, this too is exercise! I get up and down off the floor a zillion times a day! LOL! But for "official" exercise its the walking and Pilates, then the gym when I add that in...
I would suggest speaking with a therapist about it... Maybe they could help you work thru the issues and help you find balance. I wish I had some better answers for you...
There have been studies that excessive exercise can be bad for your heart. Recently a top iron man triathelete died in his 40s of a massive heart attack. The autopsy showed he had the heart of an 80 year old. It is a muscle and like anything else - it needs rest.
I walk 4 miles, 6 days a week and have no problem keeping the weight off.
