Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. "accept the things I cannot change, change the things I can..."
Yup, you've hit the six month stall and if you are anything like me, the quick part of weight loss is over. I lost 75 pounds in the first six months and 10 pounds in the second six months. Though I have to say that I still lost sizes.
At my one year check up my Doc gave me some advice. Instead of looking at the total amount that I still want to lose, target the next five pounds. Work on losing those pounds, live with them for a while and then work on the next five pounds.
I have about 15 more I would like to lose, but I'm going to concentrate on the next five. My tailbone is finally healed so I'm looking forward to getting back to exercise too.
Hang in there - it'll happen, if slowly...
Thanks for having a good head on your shoulders and hopefully some newbies will read this and realize it WILL happen to them too.
Shelley :o)
And Banjo man.... Believe me (or just ask my hubby! ha!) there are days.... :) But, overall, its not worth my energy to worry about if I know I am doing all I can!
SrChick! So nice to meet you!! Congrats on your progress as well :)
And Diana,
I am trying real hard to not even worry about losing more... Dont get me wrong, I'd like to lose another 40, but if I don't.... well, heck, I went from a 24 to a 14 and can walk for miles.... Life is good! :) So whatever the future holds, loss... no loss... I am smiling :) (Hair or no hair as well! ha ha!)
You have done so well, and I'm super proud of you!!
Keep going hon, you will get past this plateau, and like the experts tell us, this is normal, and it's about that time, that you slow down..
Keep trucking sweetie!!
Hugs,
Boo
