Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
I have no problem with what might happen with our healthcare except for if it interferes with the policy that i already have. My insurance states that since i am a GBS patient at 18 months they will cover it.
I again apologize if i offended anyone at all.
I had it in my head before my surgery that if I'm uncomfortable with the extra skin then I'm going to have plastic surgery. I talked to my husband and told him that I'm not going to wait through 6 months of documemented rashes, infections and skin break down for insurance to cover the plastic surgery. He agrees and we'll do whatever we need to, to pay for the surgery. When I get to goal I'm going to meet with a plastic surgeon.

Before I even thougt about WLS my friend watched big medicine all the time........I was soooo turned off by the excass skin i swore I would never do this ever. My bio mom suddenly died Im talking before she hit the floor at 57 yrs old. She was about 50lbs less in weight then I. So I just figured I could live with whatever skin at least I would live.
The lesson that I got was I don't have a horrible amount of skin. I do not get chafing or sores. So pre ops and or no insurance to pay like me don't stress to much it may supprise you how your body deals with it on its own.
I'm not distraught over the skin, but I know it could be better. And it will be, come March. Saving up those pennies...er...20s...to complete what I set out to do last July when I made my first contact with my surgeon.
This is perhaps a more personal decision than the RNY gbs EVER was. Each of us has to deal with the skin issue as we see fit. How ever that is, we have to be comfortable...in our own skin.
Blessings!
