are you going in a new MRI machine? or a open one or a closed? yep there are all 3 now out there. ..........I was in a new model in August and it was like a large CT scan machine open on both ends and if it were abdominal my head would of been out and my feet too.

for my spine many years ago i was in a closed and they had me in head firs and then feet first ..........head first you have these head phones they pipe in music in and just ask tor more volume if you need. you also have a button if you panic and you can just talk to them....they can hear you and speak to you. I took my anxiety meds and I actually dozed on and off until the very end and the machine bangs a bit this new one was not bad at all keep your eyes closed. you will do great it will end before you know it don't think about whats going on.

Thank you for replying. I'm going in a closed machine and I'm hoping that at the very least, I go in feet first. I wish I had a sleeping mask to keep over my eyes because I don't know if I'll be able to keep my eyes closed with all my anxiety.

you could ask if you could bring a cloth one of sorts since its not of your head maybe it would not be a problem. i think it depends where they want the pics which way they put you in. when i went feet first it was for a lower back injury down near my tail bone.

try to get it out of your head though think about meal planning or scheduling your day or what to get in and out of your kitchen for surgery date. oh honey i can carry out entire conversations in this tinny brain of mine if i let it go wild :)

Thank you hun :) I had them cover my eyes with gauze but turns out it wasn't scary at all lol. So not anything I thought it was going to be. I went in head first but my head was right by an open area and my feet were sticking out too. Thankfully that's done and I'm almost ready to see my surgeon on Nov 10th for my surgery date. Wish me luck!

oh yes it sounds like the "new" MRI like the one i was in in Aug for migranes both ends open ......new technology wonderful ......check for success. I'm glad it went well for you.

So glad the MRI went well for you. I read your post and remembered my one MRI.... on my foot. The only thing in the tube were my legs and I still freaked. I was shaking by the time it was finished. Who knew I was a closet claustrophobic! :)
