Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
You know, I can definately relate. Food used to be all sorts of things to me...comfort, social lubricant of sorts, upper, downer...almost everything except what it should have been...sustenance to negate feeling hungry. Funny thing happened after the surgery, I am not hungry. And since I have had problems with nausea, vomiting and pain, food just does not hold the same allure or charm. I go through my mind at least several times a day what would I like to eat. I don't ever come up with an answer. I feel a little loss associated with that too. Food was my cure all...my security blanket now it causes me discomfort and the negative reinforcement is making me not want to eat. Go figure...LOL! So I am at loose ends. I really have no other vices to take foods place, as I don't drink, smoke or do drugs. Exercise is OK, but I am definately not addicted. So what will ultimately take its place. I guess I will have to wait and see. Just remeber that you are not alone and a lot of us are wrestling with the same problems.
Hugs,
Kim
