It has only been 3 weeks since my surgery but I want to eat some off the same food that I use to. I thought that it would leave after surgery. I have not eaten beef since before my surgery and now I have a taste for it. I am to scared to eat it think I would be sick. I think it is my mind playing tricks on me. LOL

Just remember why you had this surgery and the BEEF isnt worth it! stay here and chat with us we'll keep your mind off of it :) dont let yur mind play games with you play games with your mind and tell it that YOU DONT WANT THE BEEF! lol

I'll be 7 weeks out tomorrow. I haven't tried beef yet. Beef is more dense than other proteins and I've been told harder to digest. I know what you mean about missing foods.

What I wanted was textures!! I was thrilled when I was able to eat different things.

It was months before I could have beef. That is the last meat I got cleared for

I had ground beef during my pureed stage. If you are craving beef you may be low on iron. Try taking an iron vitamin as well and I am sure it will pass.

Or just make some lean meatballs and mush them up!

Try something with beef flavor soup maybe or tofu :)

eventually you will be able to eat it a little ... just be patient

Try refried beans and add some beef beef bullion to it for flavoring and see if that helps. Hang in there! You have come this far. You CAN do this. :-)

try some beef broth maybe that will help? The longer you go with out these foods the less you will want them, good luck to you, You can do this!

Im 6 weeks post op and about 4 weeks, I made taco meat and refired beans, after I cooked and seasoned the hambuger meat I just made it really small and fine with a fork, and I only ate a Tablespoon of meat and a table spoon of beans with shredded cheese it satified my craving! Just remember PROTEIN is GOOD, small bites chew really well and you should be ok.

At seven weeks out I ate prime rib ...a piece about 2" dia and I had no problems.... just chew very well. I have found that I can successfully eat a type of protein one week and have a problem with it the next. The "Frankenpouch" can be very fickle. d

Beef just doesn't seem to get to that right consistency for me to swallow it and know I will be able to digest it properly. I almost always know after I've chewed for a while whether or not I need to spit in a napkin or let 'er go. It's second nature now to just pull bits and pieces out if I can't chew to mush (probably not good with the manners) and I'm 7+ months out.

At your stage, low sodium beef/chicken broth was a good choice for a savory snack, plus it counted towards your liquid intake! ;)
