I've always wondered about this. Should I wear a bracelet? I've heard some horror stories about people being admitted to the hospital under emergency circumstances and being put on a glucose drip. The sugar can make a bariatric patient violently ill. I'm always very cautious to let my doctors know that I've had bariatric surgery and that I can't take NSAIDS or glucose. But if I'm unconscious and my family isn't around to protect me? How would they know? I also wonder where to get Medic Alert bracelet that would inform hospitals in case of emergency. Any ideas?

I found 2 interesting websites, one that lists what shoudl be put on a bypass bracelet, and the other sells them. What I've taken away from them is that they're not cheap and should say:
NO NSAIDS
NO BLIND GI
NO SUGARS

I've worn one for years. I make bracelets to change out for my outfits. Medic alerts are very affordable unless you want a fancy one. Mine says
RNY BYPASS
NO NG
NO NSAIDS
On the other side I have meds and allergies

I need to have a new one made. Mine is like Lcat's but it also has my doctor's number on it (which is why it needs to be changed as I'm in another state now). I also have two drug allergies and those are also listed alone with the NSAIDs.

I wore one till some idiot broke it. I was told they weren't all that important. I would think an EMT would like to know you had surgery when doing emergency procedures. I think the bracelet is a good idea

What does no NG mean?

It could seriously damage our pouch if medical personnel don't know about our pouch. If needed, a "doctor should insert the tube using a scope, a tiny camera, that allows him or her to see where the tube is going".

That was all the tag had room for. I bought a separate heart-shaped charm that has my name and the word "Diabetic" on it. My doctor and dietician are ecstatic that I got one of these. Hope that helps!
