Medicaid for Gastric Bypass

It has been two years and a million test and still nothing... has anyone gotten a gastric bypass with medicaid and if so please help!!!! Any advice at all would be helpful!!! I honestly think they are making me do all these test to milk my insurance...

Wow! I would have thought that verifying Medicaid coverage would be one of the first things you would find out. If your doctors office isn't telling you, then you can call yourself anytime. I looked up my insurance requirements before I even went to my doctor so I knew I would qualify. Every state is different and there are basic requirements as with any insurance. You can also Google "does Medicaid cover gastric bypass surgery in... your state". Going through a Bariatric Center of Excellence is also a common requirement. We do have to jump through a lot of hoops and every insurance is different. Take things into your own hands and call Medicaid yourself!

Mine does. Im n PA. Go straight to the surgeons office and find out if it's accepted.

Time to call your insurance company/companies and ask for their version of a patient advocate. It's in their best interest for you to know what is needed and what is not to get approved for WLS, and they will help you.
After that, you may need to find another doctor. Again, Centers of Excellence is the way to go if at all possible. Mine made my journey very easy and clear. I knew what they expected, I knew what was required, and I felt safer knowing about them.
