Enjoy! It's nice getting out. I don't know how your winters are but here it is not fit to be outside.
Our winters are wonderful and the best walking season starts in September and goes until the start of the spring winds. Those can be very nasty here, because of all the sand and dust. It can get bitterly cold, but you can always add layers. There is a limit to what you can decently take off in the summer! LOL. This time of year, I have to get up before dawn to walk. Once the sun comes up, you're toasted. At a mile high, there's a lot less atmosphere to get through so it is very powerful. You can feel it on your skin like a weight.
Blue, congrats on your half mile! Just getting started can feel like rolling a rock uphill, so every time you move around for the sake of moving around, it's a victory!
The first day I made 1/2 mile I had to stop and rest twice, so I completely get it. If you don't have a pedometer, think about getting one. I am not only increasing my distance a little bit every day, I am setting daily "steps" goals. Even only a few more each day will quickly add up. Yesterday I made 5118 - I had a short term goal of 5000 steps within 2 weeks of Op. Made it!
Walk-sip-walk-sip-rest and repeat x times.
