Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Regain is normal according to some Drs but we still have to be vigilant with our choices. It is normal to have a range of weight as it constantly shifts. My weight has gone up and down too. High stress of course affects our weight. You know, the cortisol thing.
If we slide back into old habits and patterns, recognizing the problem and making different choices can help to turn us around. I have found that when I slack off of water, my body wants to hold on to more weight. When I get my water consumption up, the weight melts off. Focusing on adding back in healthy foods is much healthier than thinking we have to deprive ourselves and diet.
Counseling has made a HUGE difference for me in dealing with my food issues and challenges. In fact I am going to try a new therapist today who uses EFT which has helped me immensely in other areas of my life. Reading books from authors like Geneen Roth and Doreen Virtue can help as well. Doreen has a book on what each craving relates to and when I looked up my latest craving, it was right on.
