Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
If you add them to you plan just keep track. If the extra carbs seem to slow or stop your weight loss, just cut back.
They're also loaded with iron, other minerals and vitamins.
One thing to point out, is when I eat them anyway, they can cause gas and other gastric.... shall we say "distress?" As much as I love lentils, I will not eat a whole cup in a day, but I love a quarter or half a cup on a wilted kale salad, they're terrific with a balsamic vinaigrette!
I throw them in a pot with sausage and veggies to make a thick stew, ala' gumbo or jambalaya, and they take the place of rice very well. They hold up to strong flavors well, without imparting too much of their own.
Great options, just don't overdo it, as with all things.
I knew lentils were good for you, but had no idea they were THAT good! I'll have to eat them a lot more often. Yum!
