Hi all,
Thank you all for your prayers for my recovery. I still need that type of support, as my husband decided to take the week off and now my mental health is in jeopardy. I wonder if they do PT and other joint replacements in prison.....well anyway I'm trying to alter my view, and mentality. Just like being pregnant right???? this too shall pass.
The pain is manageable with meds, but the swelling is terrible. Sleep deprivation is taking it's toll. I do believe when I do my second knee I am going to rent a hospital bed for a few weeks. The great part of this is that my knee is straight, and although it hurts it is strong and feels reliable. I just need to get it strong enough to be able to walk normally again. Using the walker is killing my bad shoulders. PT tried to see today if I could get around with just my cane, but just not there yet.
At the advise of my home health nurse, I am going to get my left shoulder replaced in Dec. She has cared for this MD's pt. for a long time and said it would be better to alternate each joint replacement. They all have to get done anyway so the order doesn't really matter.
The pain meds kill my appetite, but I am getting my protein in and I know that I have lost more pounds, but there is no way to know what since I have all this edema.

I know you hate the walker, but I personally like my walker better than my cane, cause I can stand up straight when I walk, and be more "even", than getting around with the cane..I tend to lean on one side more...
Get better soon, and keep on exercising/walking!!
