Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Either way, stick to the fluids until they say otherwise. We have a long incision that needs plenty of time to heal up, so follow the program.
Don't worry, although it seems like a long time while you're in it, this will pass and soon you'll be back to purees, soft foods and then on your way.
In the meantime, keep sipping, sipping, sipping. My hunger was worse when I wasn't full of water, and you don't want to risk dehydration.
Speedy healing to you. Let us know how it's going.
Hunger.....I had the RNY, not the sleeve, so I can't fully understand your situation. However, it is really common to have to content with what I call "habit" hunger as well as "head" hunger in the early weeks postop. Habit hunger is when you think you should eat because in the past you ate that way..... Head hunger is when your head or emotions tell you to eat, not your body. It can take some careful attention to what is going on in your head and your body to learn to distinguish what is really going on and learn to manage it.
Good luck. :)
