I think there are gastric by pass folks as well as sleevers here.

I don't know about the pain medicine, I never took any, We had liquid Norco sent home with me from the hospital, I never took any of it. Maybe someone3 else can answer the question about your pain medicine.
What pills I did take were crushed for some time after surgery. Surew was glad to get past that, They didn't taste very good,

There are lots of "sleevies" here on this board so don't hesitate to ask questions and keep checking in. Pain meds are really a question for your doc....especially if Tylenol is not helping you. Liquid meds are the easiest way to ingest medication following surgery. I hope you can get some help from your surgeon.

I had a sleeve on 11/16. While in hospital I was given pill form pain medication. I didn't have any problem with it. But, I will say I think they gave me pill and not liquid by mistake. Good luck to you. I just had a little discomfort so didn't need med after a couple days.

There are plenty of sleevers here so you are not alone. The gas is normal since the air from the surgery needs to be expelled. Walking makes all the different. Keep walking as much as you can! I also very gently rubbed my belly in a clockwise direction. Incisions aching is normal as well since this was a major surgery. Healing takes time. Have you tried the Tylenol yet for the pain? Your phrasing makes it sound like you haven't because you are "afraid even after I crush it..." If you are in pain try the medicine. I put the crushed pills in my protein drinks. I only had to do the crushed pills for a week. After that my dr said I could swallow pills the diameter of a pencil.

You were so lucky, I had to do it for two months.. It was the worst part, oh so bitter. I can now swallow my pills.

My program had me drinking whey protein isolate from the start. I just had to do thinner pourable liquids not necessarily clear. I thinned my protein drinks by adding ice when I first started post op and it still took forever to get one down. I used Nectar protein, a thinner liquid protein but it was too sweet for my taste post op. I've tried many over the years and now use About Time unflavored or cinnamon swirl, no chemical sweeteners. I got Nectar at Vitamin Shoppe. I never used those pre made nasty things. I've always used powders. Are you saying you haven't been drinking protein?

Lcat4 my doctor said no protein until after day 14. So on day 2 I couldn't drink much water and was soo weak I could stand or even sit. So I took it upon myself this morning by making whey protein with alot of water and almost immediately was stronger. Still weak but I can hold myself up. So I called my surgeon today and he said he doesn't recommend it but since I got good results it should be okay. Right now gas is gone. Just pain in my upper shoulders and my incisions and just wondering when that pain will go away and I can sleep comfortably. . Thanks so much

Wow I've never heard of someone with a sleeve not being able to drink at least watered down protein! Protein is so important to the healing process. The pain is different for each person. Since this is a major surgery and you've lost a good part of your stomach, it takes a good 4-6 weeks to heal realistically. You are welcome!

I was given liquid Oxy, I had RNY though not sure that makes a difference, I have friends who have had the sleeve and we seem to have had most the same side effects until t came time to actually eat again lol but anyways call T3 shouldn't be that bad however I have heard from my own doc unless its a gel cap, rapid release or liquid then your not even absorbing the full dose (not sure if this is the same for sleeve) I am also in the USA so I am sure that plays in what meds are given. when I was in the hospital I was given morphine. I was also kept in the hospital until I was able to pass the gas and have a BM.

CALL YOUR SURGEON for pain management. They will well should be more help than the MD

I had RNY 2012 and to this day my doc gives me liquid form. I was pregnant they had to order a special mini gel prenatal for me also.

I wouldn't say crush it bc then you will want to puke and that's not good for your stomach at all! I am almost 3 years out and still cry when I puke bc of the pain (I don't handle pain well though) also try basic liquid Tylenol you can buy it over the counter.

I had the sleeve done too a year ago. I remember having to take that for pain. I don't recall having to crush it. But if your doc says to do that, you should. Honestly my first month is a haze in my mind now. I slept and laid down so lot. I wasn't working at the time. I got a new job two or three months later. Are you worried how it will affect your stomach? How about mixing it in milk? Maybe try half and see how that makes you feel.

A few weeks after surgery, my dad was in a car accident. He was walking my dog for me. So I had to start walking more. Gas hurts little but I think the walking helped that and helped me heal faster.
