Most of you don't know anything about me and then you see me posting things and commenting on discussions and probably wondering, "Who is this girl?" Here is a little bit about me.
My name is Andrea. I'm 35 years old. Married to a wonderful man. Mother of 2. I had RNY 12/21/09 starting weight 327 and 10/13/010 I found out I was pregnant with my 2nd child. Yep that's right. 9 months later I was pregnant. I was so excited and scared at the same time. I had gotten below 200 lbs. but with the pregnancy I did gain some weight back which was very upsetting to me, I was having very mixed emotions. I was so excited for this life growing in me, but I was disappointed for all the hard work I had done to lose the weight and everything I put my body through with the surgery. I actually gained 50 lbs with the pregnancy. That is quite embarrassing. However I was able to maintain a 90 lb weight loss from the beginning. The biggest problem that I had was that I started eating things that I wouldn't normally eat like sweets with full sugar and drinking soda, plus I would drink while eating, which is something that I would not recommend doing at all, maybe in maintenance but I haven't gotten there yet so I wouldn't know yet.
The positive side to this is that I did the 5 day pouch test a couple times, saw me doctor, and went back to the practices of not drinking before, during and after meals. Measuring my food. Small bites and chewing chewing chewing. My tool works just fine. I eat about 1/2 - 3/4 cup of food at a time. I'm averaging between 500-800 calories a day. It was 300-500 a couple weeks ago because I just couldn't eat. Almost like when I first had surgery, and I slowly had to adjust it to add the calories. I have been losing steadily again and am almost back to pre-pregnancy weight and getting closer and closer to my goal. I do still have 100 lbs till goal, but I have also lost over 100 lbs from the start.
So, next time you look at me and wonder who I am and why I'm here, now you know.
Hopefully I can be an encouragement, inspiration, and warning of how not to do it. LOL!!!
PS. I highly recommend waiting 2 years after surgery to get pregnant.
another PS. I do love my baby girl very much and I wouldn't give her up for anything.
Thanks for reading.

congratulations on first your baby and second on the weight loss and third on getting back on track!!! WOW you so deserve a pat on the back! I have MS and as hard as that has been physically for me to have my 3 youngest kids with having MS I wouldn't change having them. Each one was so very much worth what I've gone through!

Thanks for sharing Andrea! Great advice...and keep up using your tool, you will kick those lbs in no time! Now you are gonna loose all your weight and you have a precious baby!!! How awesome and blessed! I got an iud so I am not tempted or accidentally get pregnant because my hubby and I want a baby so badly but I have PCOS so it didn't happen while I was pre-op due to weight-obviously. I'm forcing myself to wait the 2 yrs. this is hard enough relearning your body and then add a pregnancy-I couldn't do it and stay sane!

Nannie, I was actually on birth control and didn't really plan on getting pregnant right away. What happened is I met my husband and we decided we did want to have a baby and thought I should get off and we should start trying thinking it would take a few months. We kinda jumped the gun because we were excited and he didn't have any children and we just wanted a family together. So I stopped the birth control and 2 weeks later I was pregnant. It was literally that fast. I am definitely on birth control now and watching it closely. It's true that you become more fertile when you lose weight. At least it was for me.

Thats what I hear- "extremely fertile" I don't blame you for having a baby! I give you tons of credit going through tons of change and keeping yourself together through it all! I can't take birth control for clotting issues but the Mirena is working ok at this point.

Congradulation on both your weight loss sucess and your new addition. You must take credit for getting right back on that weight loss horse and doing what is necessary to reach goal. Most of us will have some kind of stumbling block cross our path, it's how you handle it that counts. You are proof that you can continue to lose even after a significant amount of time has elapsed. Best to you. d

Thanks everyone. It has been a difficult road and sometimes I feel that people judge me for having the surgery and getting pregnant right away, like it was a waste because I haven't hit my goal because the pregnancy derailed me for a while. It's nice to know I've got people rooting for me. Thanks again!!!
