I will be 3 weeks out tomorrow. I want to make some tuna salad and I really want pickles in it. Do you think it is too soon? I know someone on here said they were craving pickles but I don't know how far out they were and if they ever ate any. So what do you think?

I'm a week out and I ate the center of the pickle and I did fine!

You can alway add a little picle juice to tuna or whatever in order to satisfy your taste buds. d

Ok I eat some tuna salad with pickles in it. The first time I had tuna it didn't set too well on my pouch. Now this time it was a little easier to get down but I still didn't love it. I am thinking tuna may be one of those things that doesn't work for me post-op. :(. I really liked it before surgery.

My pouch didn't like tuna either. And I absolutely loved it before surgery. It also doesn't like deviled eggs. I'm thinking it may be the mayo. I'm going to try tuna again soon.

As far as pickles go, I think if you chew them really well, I think you'd be okay. I've eaten a few olives and have been fine.

Laurie, I got a "mayo" product that doesn't have sugar in it. I was scared to eat mayo because of the sugar. I have been so blessed in that I have never thrown up since surgery. I am trying to be super careful. The mayo I got was in what my grocery store calls the dietetic section. It is soy-based and it tastes pretty good. Not exactly like mayo but it gets the job done.

Maybe try pickle relish? Definitely opt for one with low sugar content!

First time I ate tuna salad (with mayo, pickle relish, eggs, etc)....it didn't set well with me. No Pain or Vomit...just uncomfy to my pouch. My doctor told me to try things that don't do well at first a little later down the road. And OMG what GREAT Advice. Now I can eat tuna salad with NO PROBLEM and other foods that I had difficulty with at first when going on Solids. So...Give it some time.....try it again months down the road and see what happens. Hope this Helps...Rachel

I was allowed, splenda sweet pickle relish with my tuna salad at this time in the journey and I did fine enjoy!! Janeekay

I'm 15mths out and just now I was able to put a few choped pickel pieces in my tuna. I still have many foods I can't eat though I sooooo miss eggs. lol
