I had my GPS abouyt 16 months ago and have lost in all 130 lbs with about 30 to go.
Obviously my weight effected many areas of my life, but a couple of things have imnproved that were always issues even as a kid, even back when I was skinny . ( I didn't get heavy until my mid 30's)
I was always able to handle academics and my career yet in my personal life,when it came to hobbies, projects I would tend to hyper focus for a week or two and then on to something else , so I wasn't able to accomplish much in the way of long term goals.
I also seemed to have near consent nasal allergy symptoms and a fair number of colds.
For some reason I'm more focused and have less allergy/cold issues than I can ever remember and I think I'm less anxious as well. I'm very grateful yet at a loss to explain this .
Anyone have similar experiences?

I suffered from depression and major anxiety before surgery, although my sympthoms are still there they have been less frquent since surgery, and these are the stories that makes this journey so worth it, so many NSV come along with losing weight and I love seeing improvments in health... Good luck to you and congratulations on your accomplishments.

Maybe some of those unexpected improvements are due to better dietary habits, which would explain why you had those health problems as a skinny child and overweight adult. Now that you are a healthy weight adult with better eating habits (no processed food, no white flour, rice, etc) your allergies and focus have improved. I feel like I have more energy to accomplish projects and a more positive outlook on things--able to deal with stress better.

I wish I was less anxious..I have OCD and it only seems to get worse with each pound I loose...if that makes sense...lol My allergies have increased as well ... yay me

On the other hand I'm a hair dresser and my allergies only seem to be at their peek on warm days at the salon and with certain people...so maybe I'm allergic to some of my clients HAHA...

So many things I've noticed have changed for better and worse, but one thing still remains...I'm happy as long as the weightloss continues :)

Congrats on your loss!! I agree: I have much more energy now than I did pre-surgery...and fewer allergies. I also used to make myself sleepy with carbs. Since I don't eat them, anymore, I don't have groggy afernoons. Hmmmm...haven't gotten a cold since surgery, either...
