I'm four days post op, having had the gastric sleeve this past Tuesday (1/3/17) and I'm so hungry. My husband says I'm doing everything right and I often look to him for advice because he had the same procedure 2 1/2 years ago. I just spent the last four hours relaxing at my in-laws (whom I adore) but became miserable when they stepped into the other room to eat and I was stuck sipping my water alone in the living room. Everything smells freaking amazing! I felt bad but I finally asked my husband to take me home so I could escape the yummy smells. I have a little more than two weeks left on the liquid only faze but I don't think I'm going to make it.

Congratulations on your sleeve! What are you really hungry for? At this stage our psychological/emotional hunger is talking the loudest. It really helps to journal when you get to these places. Have you read Geneen Roths book yet called Women food and God ? It is fabulous! You can do this! Remember why you have made these choices!

Thank you! I feel better, just need to remind myself that I won't be on this liquid faze forever. My husband drove me all over town today and I think it helped being around strangers.

Hello! You will get through this. Time passes very fast. Soon u will be in puree then normal food. You can make it. Keep yourself busy, just try. When the lbs start coming off u will feel great. I gained lbs this week but we can both get through this! Animo!

i'm newbie also.... hunger is all in your head... once you stop thinking about it, it will go away.. you are not hungry,no possible way.... you just are fed up with this phase.... if you cant handle phase ONE...good luck...with the rest... i am at month 5 and they flew by....and the lbs melted right off ( 80 lbs so far) so hang in there if you want it bad enough you can do it....Good Luck

I just had the sleeve done this past Monday and I feel your pain. I have been depressed and asking myself what did I do to myself? I am mentally hungry and I'm totally over the liquid phase. But I will definitely take the advice from Lcat4 and journal. Keeping yourself busy I heard works. We can do this!!!

I am now 3 weeks post op and I'm feeling SO much better! I really just had to suck it up and truly listen to my body. Was I hungry? No. I was missing food...like an addict misses their drug. I had to just power through. Tomorrow I start purees. Thank you to everyone that commented! You give me hope!

You can do this it's a mind of matter thing. I still fight with good smelling foods and it only been since 11/28/16. I love to eat but had to make a healthy change for health reasons. Each day it gets better. Be glad that your husband been through it. He can be a good coach for you. Its no fun doing this alone. I had no one to talk to before my sleeve surgery which was hard. I just read up on it. I go to the gym now and wish I had company. But I have to do what is necessary for me. Good luck on your new journey. You're going to love it.

I am 3 months out from RNY, and my mind tells me of all the things I would like to eat, but after i think about it a few min, I realize it doesn't sound so good after all. Hang in there you'll make it
