Headed to see ortho doc this am and hoping he will tell me the problems I've been having with my total knee replacement, and my other real knee will hold out... Along with my hip issues....

I really don't want to have surgery on either of them knowing once I have wt loss surgery in August, and start losing, they should both be much better...

Just had to share my worries I guess! :)

I hope all goes well for you at the Doctors. The weight loss will be very benficial for your knees. You may find other aches coem with weight loss as your posture changes but it's al temporary and sooooo worth it.

My wife has had both hips replaced and will soon have a knee done. It has helped her a whole lot. Guess I am lucky my bones are ok. They make a shot out of chicken comb that my ortho shot in my bad knee. It helped a lot. He says the cartilge is still there just thin. Some arthritis.

Doc went ok! I was happy to hear my hips have NO arthritis! The pain is all soft tissue! He talked about having more surgery on knee replacemet to help we regain range of motion, but then decided i was too young (i like hearing that! Lol! I'm 52) and apparently, after they go take your new knee all apart, fix the tendons, put it back together, it only works about half the time to improve ROM... So i was glad he didn't want to do that...

He did say otherwise my knee looks good and stable. So he sent me home with a torture device (grin) to help me with ROM.

He said my pain in hips and back is mostly because i walk funny to compensate for my leg not straighting out when i walk... And that with torture device i *might* regain some, but may always have issues due to this problem that even wt loss won't fix. Will help of course. (This was the bad news)

He also referred me to ankle doc for my ankle issues... So at least i feel i am getting ggod care even if he didn't have a magic wand :) And overall i see the visit as a win!
