You are "head hungry".

get busy, find a hobby that is far away from the kitchen.

I know this sounds harsh, but the definition of hungry is "not having food to eat". We know you are eating and getting what you need, but you want to do it more...This is "Head Hunger"

Finding other things to fill your time is the only way to combat this!!!
I went to work, for example!!! I found I was just having way too much time on my hands, and this was giving me trouble when I needed to fill the time with anything. HHHmmmmm, what is there to do, for someone whose kids are grown, and has no job?!
If I wasn't eating, I was shopping...See?

My doctor told me that around the six month mark I will start to fell hungry in compared to not geeling hungry in the first 5 months. Find something to do away from the kitchen. Ask yourself are you really hungry or is there somehting else going on. Like emotional stressors. If you decided to eat something choses healthy food and protein first. Also start waterloading. Drink a lot of water to maintain the full feeling in your pouch.

That happens. I started eating denser foods at that point. It helped a lot.

I had hunger REAL NOT HEAD from the 2 week mark. My doctor said it is normal for some people. I guess that is where willpower comes into play. EAt when you are supposed to and try to distract yourself otherwise

I started experiencing real hunger about that time too. We still have to battle the old bad habits and remember that the surg. is an effective tool to help us follow our programs. It's not always easy. I feel like I've been a lifetime dieter and will continue to be one. I have to. If I was an alcoholic or drug addict, I would be having to work my step program for the rest of my life too. I've been working on drinking more water and denser protein, like beef. I just started eating salad again and it's great. Surgery really isn't an easy fix. We just have to keep on or we will be back where we started. Good luck. Keep your chin up and do the best you can.

Hello there. I am 9 months out and I really think that the hunger has something to do with how much water you drink. For example...I can eat until I'm full (all protein), then wait 30 minutes and drink a bottled water - and feel hungry all over again!

I guess some people might call that head hunger, but I don't know. I suppose since liquids empty out our pouch, it makes sense that if the pouch is empty we would feel hunger.

I have had to learn not to let the hungry feeling rule my eating schedule. If I feel hungry, OH WELL! I just stick to my schedule of eating 5 - 6 small meals per day. I am not going to eat more than I'm suppsed to just because I feel hungry.

I don't know if you are experiencing hunger after drinking liquids or if you are talking just in general, but I often just grab a piece of gum or do something to occupy my mind and I soon forget all about the hungry feeling. As a rule I do not act upon the hungry feeling unless it is time to eat.

That's funny, I'm about a week & 1/2 post surgery and last night I got hungry. I thought the guerlin? would be left behind in my old stomach.

I've been on straight clear liquids so I'm hoping it will get better when I can begin eating more substantial foods but I was very surprised to feel hungry.

It's normal. We're not suppose to live on a few tablespoons of food for the rest of our lives. Just watch your portion sizes and avoid snacking. Protein first always. Planning helps me... 95% of the time I know what I will be eating the next day. I plan breakfast, lunch, dinner, and any snacks. I don't deviate.

I am 6 months out and I am experiencing the same thing. Your not alone. My hunger is real. I trying to see if it is certain foods that might be triggering it. We just need to keep making good choice. I think water is a key.
