Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
Your experience may be a unique one, yet we can each appreciate and respect your journey, and support you as you continue.
Hang in there. You are not alone.
Most people don't like to hear thin people say that they think they are fat.
But we know that anorexia is much more than that.
We may not be in exactly the same situation but we are here for you.
I went 18 lbs past my goal this summer. I really wanted to gain the weight back but now I am and I am scared. I am so torn between the two.
Keep talking. .. to your therapist, to us, to family and friends that understand.
Hang in there.
Feel free to share your thoughts and your struggles. You will find we are all in similar boats trying to stay afloat. :) you will not find a better group. There is very little talking down, and those people are usually short lived. You will alway find the moral support you need to succeed ih your personal journey.
Body issues are such a common issue with women, especially. It sounds like your real underlying issue is using control, needing to be in control, etc Does that sound right? Most of the time when we need to control, it's because we're scared. And lots of us eat when we're scared. (and for lots of other emotional reasons).
This is a good safe place to share and vent when you need to . It sounds like you are in a pretty healthy place right now. Keep posting and talking about it. It will help you and others as well. :)
I did have to have a revision. I had developed a "fear of food' I did shakes but could not do food. I weighed myself ........ok still do several times a day. My doctors told me I had to gain some back not sure why I was at 127 which seemed reasonable to me and the bmi charts. I have a really amazing therapist who is determined this complication will not become an eating disorder. I don't know what you have to fight through but I do know a little about post op odd fights lol like I said people here have not had my experience but I couldn't feel more cared about and supported then I found here. so welcome hope to see more of you :)
