I had heard from a few sources that thrift stores were the way to go when you are trying to keep clothes on your back.
However everytime I went to look around I found the stuff depressing.
My BFF who is a size 0 has all kinds of fabulous jeans, jackets and tops from our local value store and nobody would ever know she got her stuff there.
In fact she is often asked where she gets her beautiful clothes.
I...on the other hand ... have never found anything... until yesterday.
I hit the jackpot and thought I had died and went to heaven.
I scored a 100% black V neck pure cashmere sweater for 3.99, new Gap boot cut low rise jeans (size 13/14). chocolate brown leather jacket, black boho fancy top with stunning beading (4.99), beautiful rich brown and green current trendy fall top, and an elegant white crossover sweater from Le Chateau. Practically an entire fall wardrobe for 85 bucks. I mean this stuff was like NEW!
I was so excited!
Now I want to go back for the new pair of Not Your Daughters Jeans and Danier leather jacket I left behind.
What a rush!
Anybody else "hit the jackpot" recently.

Wow I thought I hit it big when I found a Gap skirt for $3.99!! You certainly did hit the jackpot!!! Wish I had a your thrift store by me!!

The deal with thrift stores is that sometimes there just isn't anything good and then there are days where you look around and you feel like a kid in a candy store. Goodwill and the likes was without a doubt one of the best phobias I conquered during this journey. And my very wealthty sister rapes these stores for the good stuff idiots throw away.

I was wondering though, do you think they'd have a problem if I bought some of those one size fits all women thongs?

YES! This past weekend I hit my local consignment shop and spent a whopping $22.00; for that I got - a 2 piece christmas red wool top/skirt, a grey wool skirt, a black/grey skirt, a 2 piece skirt/blouse, and a brand new black swing a-line raincoat for $3.50!!! AND, i also found six brand new, never been used, in the boxes Burger King collector series glasses with the Disney characters/stories on them. All this for $22.00!!! I'm so happy!

Sorry Lucifer, no woman's thongs this time. :)

I'm still a long way off from surgery - probably a year to wait - but I've been hitting the Sally Ann shops to look for suits for work after surgery. Anything I see that is in a smaller size than I am know I am picking up because I know I certainly will not be able to buy new suits that will fit for a week or two in the months following surgery. I figure I'll be doing well just to keep my underwear from falling of my butt. My latest find was a Jones New York, with the tags still on it. It originally cost about $550 and I got it for $20. It just sits in my closet calling to me...One day next year, I am going to look absolutely fabulous in it!

I made out like a bandit on summer shorts the last time I went to my local 2nd Avenue (Goodwill's retail store.) However, I'm one of those "idiots" who has donated really good stuff, some still with tags because it just doesn't fit anymore and I don't need it. It's been part of the catharsis I'm experiencing as I evolve into my new body.

coming from the less fortunate side of the tracks...okay, I have a ton of sister and brothers...we have always had to shop at the goodwill, or else do without...the option was wear each others clothes and that was just out of the question...lol
what people fail to realize is this....poor people don't give to goodwill...we...they, have to wear their clothes til they fall apart. It is, how do I say this...ummm,, more financially blessed people, okay, the richer folk, in town that are able to give to goodwill. you know, the people who buy new stuff each season, just because they want to look at something new...just because they are tired of the sweater they bought last season...
so for all of you who haven't ever taken the time to check it out...don't be shy,,,it's where the deals are...especially for those of us who need quality clothes for reasonable prices. I got a $90.00 blouse for $3.49 . the same blouse i had seen 2 months prior across the parking lot in a department store...why wouldn't you go there?

Yep 2 pairs 1 still with tags attatched the other just about as new blue jean (no stretchy waist) zipper and button both a size 16 and still baggy in the butt..$3.50 each.. Can't go wrong with that seeing as it looks like I will shrink out of them in NO time.. WOW I said shrink out of them instead of grew out of them hahahaahh Love it Love it!! As for Lucifer's thongs.. OOOOH you can have em all!!! hahaha I spent 50 yrs pulling my undies outa my arse can't see putting them there on purpose hahahah

YES! I did find some great cotton pants. They are bozo-orange. Got the dye today to turn them into a more modest black. I'm just thrilled at finding anything at all to fit there.
