As for steak, I had some for supper last night. I mixed up some fat free mayo with some horseradish and used it as a dip for the steak, went down well.
It takes so getting use to... but I guarantee it will help you slow down :) I've been doing it for a couple months now. At first it was hard to remember and felt awkward (like any new habit)... But now, it is coming much easier and feels more natural... However, it is not a full habit (where I just do it without thought) but it is much easier!
I too have had to force myself to put the fork down! Then I'm forcing my self to count how many times I chew each bite before swallowing this is beginning to help. I still have some problem of feeling full before I'm too full. I think this is because it takes 20 minutes to register in your brain. I'm trying to make my food last for at least 20 minutes.
Good Luck, I'd be interested in other repsonses to this too!!!
My problem is that I like my food piping hot. Hate cold or luke warm food. Sometimes I eat half my meal and then go back to the microwave to warm the rest of it up.
