Gastric Bypass Surgery Support Group
Gastric bypass (GBP) is any of a group of similar operative procedures used to treat morbid obesity, a condition which arises from severe accumulation of excess weight in the form of fatty tissue, and the health problems ("co-morbidities") which result. If you are considering gastric bypass or have had it, join the community where we share our experiences and find support.
you are also only 5 days post op, your body will be holding onto the fluids so no weight lose after 5 days is nothing. I am 6 weeks post op and I have dropped 25.3lbs and i think sometimes it is not coming off and I can't see a difference, but 25lbs in 6 weeks is pretty good, wouldn't you agree ???
just be thankful that you are not in any pain as many suffer after surgery.
and enjoy the ride
While in the hospital I too was given 4 oz of juice, but I had 4 oz each of two different flavors plus broth and sugar-free jello. There was no way in you-know-where that I could consume that much, but I appreciated having four different flavors to choose from. I remember barely drinking an ounce from one of the juices and sending everything else back.
As for the weight loss, give it time. None of us got as big as we did overnight, and we won't lose it all overnight either. Good luck with the rest of your journey!
Your internal stitches are still healing, so be careful and don't do any more exercise that the surgeon recommended. I know that I couldn't lift more than 10 lb. for the first six weeks.
Be prepared for your body to hold onto weight for a few weeks while it figures things out. Believe me, you will be shedding inches like crazy, but it may not show on the scale at first. Don't let the scale fool you. Many people, perhaps most people, fear that they are going to be the first one for whom the surgery doesn't work. Don't sweat it. If you stick with the program, the weight will drop off.
