...who has been gone for ages but finally returned. I had a Roux-n-Y in December 2015, lost a total of 83 pounds and then went into a tailspin. The weight loss stopped because I stopped; I got so comfortable with my new self that I allowed myself to slip back into my old habits and fell away from using all the tools and tricks we need to stay on track. NOT GOOD!!! Anyway, I've gained back about 25 lbs but decided it's time to get back on track. I've worked too hard for too long to permanently derail myself, and now tha tI've have a taste of life on the healthy/slender side I want it back.

When I lose those 25 lbs, I'll have only 30 more to go before I reach my goal. In spite of the weight gain, the benefits still remain and make me so very happy--I no longer take any of my longterm meds, my diabetes has resolved, my self-confidence has gone through the roof, I've taken up woodworking as a hobby (much to my husband's terror as I'm a professional pianist and need all my fingers intact!) and recently went back to school to work toward my master's degree and FINALLY realize my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher.

Best of luck to those of you just starting the journey! Please be patient with me as I find my way back.

Glad to see you back! We need you back! Since the forum changed we lost nearly everyone. Lots of newbies need support and so do us oldies! Glad to here you’ve regrouped and are getting back on track. Doing it now will help with the college stress to come. Going back to small, measured portions is what always works for me! Good to see you!

Hi there, it is great to hear from another alumni. I had my RYN 10/03/11 and my life has never been the same. It was one of the best decision I had made in a long time!! I initially lost about 100 lbs. @ 5'8", and over a period of time I gained back about 20-25, but since then I lost all that and I have remained at my current weight of 230-234 for over a year now. I work out at least 3 times a week and I'm doing fine as well. We all have days where its seems that I'm larger than what I really am I. I just pray ask God to help me see me for who I really am! I have to be realist and remember this was a lifestyle change for me and at any time I can revert back to old behavior if I don't be honest with my feelings. In the pre-psych interview I found that i was an emotional eater and that I needed to learn how to accept things for what they are and not blame myself for things that were not right by eating and snacking on food!! thank God for the awareness and today I'm doing just fine.

It is so good to hear from you! I've been awol here since November (long story that I'll post about here soon). I totally hear you about needing to get back on track! I'm up about 25 lbs from my target weight, myself. Today, I decided it's past time to kick some butt and get back to the healthiest version of me!

JJ!!! Good to see you here! I too have gained some back but I still feel so dang good, clothes shopping is still so dang much fun, and life is never, ever dull. Ever. The best part of this entire journey-besides all the positive things that happened to me--was inspiring a longtime friend to undergo bariatric surgery himself. He got sleeved fifteen months ago and is down about 175 lbs, but only ten pounds away from his goal. I just can't believe how well he's doing, and he's inspiring me to get my smaller butt in gear and get back on track. This is the first time he's ever been smaller than me! LOL
