I can't believe I'm saying this, but I am cold all the time now! I used to be so hot-natured, but since my surgery in July, I am always cold. I try to dress warmly and I always have a blanket close by when I am at home, but sometimes it doesn't even help. My hands and feet are the worst! Does anyone have any suggestions for keeping warm? Any ideas about foot-warming products? A friend suggested socks with a microwaveable insert, but I don't know where to find them. Does the cold feeling eventually go away as you get further out from surgery? Will I be cold forever? Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! :)

If you have a hunting or fishing store they have sock and hand warms that are great.
Have a great Friday everyone, and one quick share... A good friend just got new insurance through her husband's job, and it covers WLS! I am so happy for her and look forward to inviting her to join DS. I really do get so much out of this site. There is so much wisdom here. :)
My secret is to always wear several layers. For winter I save up and get silk long johns from WIntersilks, they aren't too horribly pricey and add a lot of warmth without bulk or weight. I wear gloves when I can, even if it's just to go to the mailbox. I pour myself a mug of hot water to wrap my hands around at work and alternate hands on the computer with one wrapped around the mug. I wear turtlenecks or scarves, and socks with my shoes or boots, from the first cold weather until late spring. I made sure my raincoat and heavy wool winter coat were full length because I hated having my legs below my old coats getting frozen by the wind.
And I have this cool gel thingy I bought online, you pop this little metal disk inside it and it suddenly warms up like you wouldn't believe! You can use it for your hands, put it behind your back, wherever. It solidifies as it cools and if I rememberf right you put it in hot water to re-liquify and make it ready to use again (I forget every year, haven't gotten it out this year yet). Also, I think Restoration Hardware had this little hand warmer that works like a lighter, you light it and slip it inside your gloves and it stays arm until the fuel runs out.
Oh, and there is also a beanbak kind of thing that I heat in the microwave and wrap around my neck on evenings at home. I snuggle up with a lap rug and my neck warmer and I am cozy as toast while my hot hubby sits around in shorts!
