After you make the appt for the social worker etc....call the surgeons office and make the appointment with them for about 2 weeks after that appointment. IF you wait until the appointments are complete...you will be waiting ages for your docs appt...
----> The social worker will tell you that you cannot make the appt until after you see her....do it anyways...
THEN- when you see the doctor again he will ask if you had the class yet..IF you did all the other stuff he asked you to...but haven't had the class yet...he'll get you or his secretary to call the nut/social worker to have them put you in an earlier class...so he can book your surgery...
I'm rambling a bit...and at work so i'm going to wrap this up...but if you have any questions feel free to message me. Humber River is a great place/program..I had Dr. Huynh...he also did my gall bladder removal...
Yes I agree with Karauto, you will get a package in the mail that must be filled out and sent back.
They will then send you a letter stating that they have received your information and inform you of their wait times (mine was 12 to 18 months)
I waited just over 12 months to hear from them again.
The secretary or whatever her title is (name starts with a D is quite odviously stressed out. She refused to give me ANY further information and stated that they don't even have a computer there so she couldn't possibly look up my name to see where I was on the list (what a manufactured lie).
So began my saga of securing my surgery in the States.
Now that I am ready to have my surgery in the States they want me to come in for my appointments :(
They have a new Doc (Dr Sullivan) which will be my doc. I hear things are picking up time wise with this new development.
However I still have to wait a month after I see Dr. Sullivan (March 23) to see the Dietitian and the Social Worker ( I will work the Mandatory class in Feb 11 although I have already been to class in the U.S.)
This Mandatory class is I believe 1-4 on Thursdays so getting in shouldn't be a problem.
I am worried about the nut/social worker as I have heard that it's the Dietitian that is the nut.
As for trying to make appointments I have tried, none of it has made a scrap of difference.
"D" completely shuts me out.
I am wondering... If I go to see the surgeon on Feb 12 what advice would anyone give to get the appointments with this Dietitian and social worker.
I am, at this point, willing to sit in their office and hope for a cancellation.
I have appointments March 23 with them people but that holds me up another month.
Also karauto are you saying I should make the second appointment with Dr Sullivan now?
Only in Canada :(
FYI hang tight.....once you have the follow up with Dr. Sullivan....he may make your appoinmtnet within weeks. That is what happened with me.
I had my follow up and then my surgery 4 weeks later. I was soooo surprised as i thought i would be waiting months....
