ok this is my problem.. I work at night so my night is my day. I eat 3 meals a day only but there are some nights when I get sleepy and i will eat peanut butter crackers and cup of coffee. I am preop so I know after my big day I won't be able to this but I want to learn how to stay woke without eating! any advice?

Honestly- you wont need to do it. I am still allowed caffeine on my plan- just a cup a day. So if your plan allows you will be able to have a cup to keep you up.

I used to have snacks to help me make it til dinner, but I never need them since surgery.

My surgeon just told me that caffeine can cause you to feel hunger, but I understand the need for coffee and other stimuli to help you stay awake.

I'm not sure what you do, but I know when I'm sleepy at work, getting up and walking definitely helps. Hopefully you can do this while at work?

My plan allows coffee too. I have my protein coffee starbucks style every morning. The cheese crackers won't work but other WLS friendly snacks will be fine like peanut, cashew or almond butter with snack veggies. Even better something with protein like cheese. You will be fine!

I too work nights. It can be tough. I don't know that coffee is too big of a deal, I am not allowed coffee, but I do it anyways and am a year out. Doesn't seem to have affected anything. As far as the eating to stay awake...... completely know that feeling. make wise choices and pick something that you can snack on that is low cal. I used to have a baggie of plain cheerios with me or edaname is a great choice. Not much flavor, but it got me through the night without much damage! Good luck!!!
