I am very interested to the answer to this question.
Yesterday curiosity got the better of me and I decided to try tuna.
I ate 3 oz of spicy Thai tuna (small can) with one portion (6) Ritz crackers.
That seems like a lot,
That being said I felt afterward that I had overdone it a bit because I had a similar sensation to when I ate to much in my previous life.
I didn't feel good and wanted to lay down.
The feeling wasn't overwhelming but it was there (I did not at any time feel nauseous)
I also was not overcome by a feeling of fullness that made me stop although I was waiting for it.
I am thinking maybe I shouldn't eat at all (accept for my shakes and vitamins) to avoid the issue although I have to fave it sometime.
This 2-3 tablespoons which I need to take an hour to eatis nonsense. I would just rather not eat anything because I am not hungry anyway.
Like Tia, I am confused as well.
Any imput would be much appreciated.
Hugs,
Charlene
After all when you put water with crackers you get mush pretty fast.
I dont understand how to eat 2 tablespoons every 15 minutes for an hour either.
When you sit down and try to do it it doesn't seem practical.
Hope, I still don't think I could eat 6 Ritz Crackers with tuna.
Tonight I tried pasta for the first time, my hubby and I went out to eat, and I decided to try stuffed shells.........I ate one, with a couple bites of a piece of garlic bread.
The only other thing I ate today was a little cottage cheese with a couple pieces of fresh fruit.
I'll probably try to eat a bit of soup later, and have a protein shake later tonight.
I'm not sure what is the right amount to eat, I think everyone has different tolerances for what they can handle.
For my soft food stage, I ate cottage cheese, soft scrambled eggs, roast beef hash, refried beans, sf jello, sf pudding, sf popsicles and of course soups. After that chili was a fave of mine. I did do sf applesauce, but not very often.
I'd just be careful, eat slowly, chew good, and wait a few minutes between bites. Good luck to all of you just starting out, it is by trial and error we learn. If your not getting sick, your probably not eating to much.
Hope.. you make lots of comments about not wanting to eat.. and that concerns me.. the weight will come off.. dont think you have to stop eating.. thats NOT the right answer. I never have had a sensation of being "full" after surgery.. but then again I never felt full gefore surgery because I wamways ate.. lol. the keys is feeling satisfied so quickly... dont over do it.. and especailly dont under do it by not giving yourself enough nutrients to not become sick!!!
I'm sooo glad Charlene is back.. I learend so much from this lady!!!
I haven't had a problem with anything yet (I know it doesn't mean I won't)
It concerns me that I even have the ability to eat his much at this time.
What will happen when my appetite returns?
I am taking in my 60-80 grams of protein everyday and taking all my supplements.
Hugs,
Charlene
I am over 2 weeks out and struggling with this issue.
I try to eat a small amount like 1 egg 2 oz of cheese with a gram or so of turkey pepperoni in a scramble for breakfast remembering I will eventually want to eat twice this amount.
I am wondering if it is as buckeye166 says and I should curb my portions to 1/4 cup.
Although I cannot eat a cup I can certainly eat 1/2 a cup and maybe a bit more.
Additionally I believe I am going to be one of those people who can eat anything.
Things I have tried are Tim Horton's ice cap (sugar), tuna, chicken!! (pureed with light mayo), and shrimp. I have never felt nauseas and everything has been quite agreeable.
I drink lots of water as I have a health issue that requires it.
I am able to swallow the huge antibiotic I was given with no problem.
Please don't think I am being reckless I am not trying to cram as much in as I possibly can but rather just trying to figure things out.
I am curious about my system as I believe it can adapt to this change just fine.
Should I just be happy about this situation or am I doomed to failure.
