Never, not one day of the last 6 months have I ever forgotten that I had surgery. Mostly because of the higher maintenace we go through. I wake up thinking about vitamins and protein, etc. I hope that eventually I'll get to the point where I'm not so self aware. But I'm sure that won't happen until I get to goal and hold it there for a long time. It's just being in the midst of still losing dramatically. I notice all kinds of new differences daily.

No can't say that I have ever forgotten that I had GBS. It is on my mind fromthe time I wake up in the morning to the time that I close my eyes at night to go to sleep. I always think about what I need to eat, when to fit in exercise, whether I took my vitamins, etc etc. It is always on my mind.

I'm starting to.....which I think is great. It means, I'm integrating all the rules, into my new life. I'm accepting the new normal.
Had to laugh today though, I did forget and dressed in a shear-ish shirt from Old Navy.....Didn't notice until the day was almost over, that you could see a nice vertical line down the middle of my torso (my GBS scar). I just laughed and considered not getting a bellybutton when I eventually have plastic surgery. I could tell people, I'm alien!!!

OMG! I thought I was the only one!! I'm not in any pain, don't get hungry so when I drink water I forget and I will just down it then I feel it a few seconds later. I just told my husband yesterday that I literally forget that I've had the surgery. I'm so glad to know I'm not the only person!!

I can't say that I have forgotten that I have had the surgery. I wake up and think about vitamins. Even if I forget to take them the first thing in the morning, I am driving down the road and remember and as soon as I walk back in I am taking them. Even if I did forget then my body would let me know because if I even tried to eat more than what my body could handle my body be like "WTH are you thinking about?" LOL!!! I hope that at some point it will be like normal everyday life and I won't think about it all the time, but right now I can't see that happening.

I have moments, like simdown, where I will take a big gulp of water and remember right after I swallow lol. It's not constantly in the front of my mind, especially at work where I'm so busy. It's like little jolts of awareness that suddenly rush forward to remind me of certain things, like taking my vitamins or not grabbing a chocolate as I pass by a bowl-full at work. I feel like it's becoming a natural part of me finally which is nice since it's not going to change.

I have sometimes, until I look at my stomach and see the scars of where the 5 small holes are.

I have not fogotten that I have surgery. I am reminded each morning when I take my priolosec and pack my vitamins, protein powder and meals to take to work. I am reminded by how much food I can eat because I get full much faster. I am also reminded by the 6 scars on my stomach.

I must agree with everyone else who replied. I can't forget I had surgery because I am only 5 weeks post-op and am still trying to figure out what I can and can not eat. I am on the unrestricted phase of my diet, but of course that is not the case. I still can only eat very small pieces and only chicken and tuna. And I am definitely reminded when I either eat to fast or don't take small enough bites, because I will be in the bathroom for the next 3 hours puking. I hope that one day I can feel like I have not had surgery, but for now I am trucking forward with the reminders!
Also, I too can't forget because I am a diabetic and it is taking me a long time for all of my little cuts to heal.

Yes,I forget even though I have to take all my supplements,I forget because I feel like I have always eaten this healthy,I sometimes forget how bad I use to eat.Andrea xx

I forget sometimes, after two years it becomes life...food/eating becomes habit. we had the surgery to get back into life, not to let the surgery rule your life. just a tool.

The thought of having had the surgery is still pretty new with me since i just had it 7 months ago (lost 140 pounds). I do forget to take my vitamins some days.. rather I forget to bring them along. I am much more active now and when you are always on the go it's easy to forget to bring them along. I have been at my goal weight for quite some time now so for me it's the trying to eat a little more here lately to maintain the weight I am at without losing too much more. That is a new struggle which has been going okay. So yeah.. either being concerned about eating too much or too little.. it will always be in the forefront of my mind.. hehe.

i never forget, i think about it daily and i am almost 2yrs out, i am so happy and grateful for this process, i probably obsess about it, but whats one more thing for me to obsess about.
