I am starting to have really bad hot flashes. I had PCOS and endometriosis and I guess I still do but I have had a complete hysterectomy. And have had different hormones to take for hot flashes (patches, cream rubbed on my thigh, gel rubbed on my arm) but I haven't needed anything for a while now. But this past week or two I have had CRAZY hot flashes. I know as I lose weight those fat cells release estrogen into my system so I am guessing that is what is happening.

So do I call my gyno or my bariatric surgeon to get something for some relief? I am guessing that I am going to need to get on some type of hormones again. I hate adding in another medication to the long list of stuff I already take but I really need some relief.

Run your symtoms by your gyno and your bariatric doc to see what they say. I was post menopausal when I had my surgery and except for the emotional rollercoster I had no other issues. d

I'm post menopausal but I've been getting horrible hot flashes as well. My doctor told me to take soy to control it. I know it works because I took it before I was menopausal. I would try taking the soy before I went on any more meds.

Talk to you gyno about it.

I, too, had had a hysterectomy before GBS. I didn't have an issue with hot flashes as I melted down. But my experience with menopause was not all that difficult. I couldn't take hormones (my younger sister died from breast cancer), so I took 800 IE of vitamin E for the hot flashes. That worked surprisingly well. I also used a lot of over the counter things for menopause (wild yam cream is a good one, Estroven, etc). Good luck. :)

Several times this week ive had issue with hot flashes. It was like I was on fire on inside. I just took it as I was burning fat..lol

when i was able to work there were several coworkers that used the wild yam and swore by it.

I pray i don't have this trouble. although i too was in postmenopausal before surgery.
